The Velas Blockchain platform is now protected by Path Network, a U.S. company that specializes in DDoS mitigation and enterprise security for services such as exchanges, financial centers, server hosts and other such enterprises that require reliability, 100% uptime, and protection from malicious attackers.

Path’s Anycast network, one of the largest in the world, establishes reliability through redundancy by balancing traffic across each of its 14 PoPs ensuring that no single node can be overwhelmed and that the Blockchain remains accessible at all times. The Blockchain and its users can expect to face no downtime due to DDoS attacks and protection from attackers who may try to intercept and fork network requests that result in fraudulent transactions as a result of Path’s combined usage of eBPF (Extended Berkeley Packet Filter) and XDP (Express Data Path) to filter out malicious traffic before it ever reaches Velas.

Path Services:

Filtering

- Using technologies such as eBPF (Extended Berkeley Packet Filter) and XDP (Express Data Path) which are the same technologies used to accelerate high-performance blockchains like Solana, Path can quickly filter out and mitigate high volumes of DDoS attacks network-side before it ever reaches clients.

Caching

- Velas’ assets are cached at our 14 points of presence around the world in locations such as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Zurich in Switzerland, Tokyo in Japan, Taipei in Taiwan, multiple locations in the USA and more, ensuring rapid connection times and quick load speeds for the best user experience.

Capacity

- Totaling 3500 Gbps in total IP transit capacity, Path regularly handles and mitigates attacks that are hundreds of times greater than a standard business Internet connection’s 1 Gbps capability. Path has mitigated attacks of up to 700 Gbps and over 300 million packets per second worldwide.

Redundancy

  • Operating one of the largest Anycast networks in the world, traffic is load balanced across all 14 points of presence in the network making it impossible for an attacker to single out and take down a single node, while enabling users to always be capable of accessing Velas’ network during the mitigation of attacks.
